GV Community

This is the name given to a group of students, alumni and faculty from Fundação Getulio Vargas em São Paulo who make financial donations to one of the Scholarship Funds of FGV-SP Schools (Business Administration School, School of Economics, and Law School) in order to allow low-income students have the opportunity to study at one of our units.
The culture of donating (fundraising) to educational institutions is not as popular in Brazil as it is in other countries; however, this is changing. Both students and alumni, upon request, respond positively to the institution’s needs, as they acknowledge that their professional growth and success was achieved and boosted, partly, by their education.

As of October, 2009, the resources provided enabled us to provide full, 100% scholarships to 11 students.   The names of these meritorious donors are posted on plaques - changed in March each year - to acknowledge their contribution.

Fundraising is managed by an institutional office that is responsible for relationships with donors. Donors are given a card to access FGV and the Library, and to obtain discounts in the bookstore and updated information on the institution's on-going activities.  The bigger the donation, the greater the benefits. The minimum contribution is R$ 300 a year.
